Job Summary

Reel FX Creative Studios, the award winning animation studio behind The Book of Life, is expanding its creative reach to include its newest office in Montreal. Recruitment for all of our projects, including the new animated feature Ugly Dolls directed by Robert Rodriguez (Sin City, Desperado, Spy Kids), is in progress with openings in the new Montreal location.

Reporting to the VP of Human Resources North America, the Human Resources Manager will work with the Reel FX studio department heads, producers and key personnel to maintain and develop employee relations, create and implement recruitment strategies and lead HR driven programs and initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Be the go-to person to all things HR at Reel FX Montreal
• Plan, develop, organize and direct all aspects of the HR function, including, but not limited to; recruitment, development of strategic initiatives, compensation, benefits, payroll administration, performance management, employee relations and employee engagement
• Work closely with the to identify hiring needs for upcoming productions
• Assist with crew planning to keep employees moving from one production to the next
• Responsible for full-cycle recruitment including writing job descriptions and advertisements, posting, resume screening, attending industry events, coordinating and conducting interviews, reference checking and preparing job offers packages
• Provide guidance and direction regarding compensation and benefits
• Advise on legal matters around employment regulation and law and take a proactive approach to ensure legal employment practices are maintained and ensuring consistent and fair application of policies
• Maintain, promote, communicate and implement HR initiatives
• Develop and foster relationships with managers to ensure that all employee relations, employee engagement, talent acquisition, talent management and development initiatives are supporting RFX’s values and strategy
• Other related various duties as required

Education and Experience Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in Business Administration, Human Resources or a related field required.
• Fluent in French and English
• 5 years of experience as an HR Manager or Generalist; experience in the animation, gaming or VFX industry an asset
• High degree of ethics, integrity and confidentiality
• A solid understanding of Quebec Employment Standards and Federal Human Rights Legislation
• Knowledge of Canadian employment regulations and processes
• Proven ability to resolve complex problems and facilitate collaborative solutions
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to understand the business and to promote effective HR strategies that support business objectives
• Able to legally work in Canada
