Job Summary


A designer produces visual solutions to the communication needs of the studio and its clients, using a mix of creative skills and commercial awareness. Designers need imaginative flair, awareness of current fashions in the visual arts, working knowledge of the latest computer packages and an understanding of material costs and time limits, all of which can impact on the design.

Duties and Responsibilities

• developing design concepts by gathering information and data to clarify design issues;
• thinking creatively to produce new ideas;
• creating conceptual character, prop and environment designs, color scripts and style frames;
• using innovation to create design concepts and meet the constraints of cost, time and client;
• multi-tasking: designers often work on more than one design at a time;
• using a wide range of media, including photography and computer aided design;
• producing accurate and high quality work;
• keeping abreast of developments in design programs;
• working well and at times leading a team of printers, copywriters, photographers, other designers, website designers and marketing specialists;
• working to tight deadlines.

Education and Experience Requirements

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in graphic design, illustration, communications or related field or equivalent experience;
• Minimum five years experience in design;
• Experience with web site design and updates;
• Strong working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suites, experience with Microsoft Office and/or After Effects a plus;
• Organized and detail-oriented;
• Ability to meet tight deadlines;
• Able to communicate creative and technical thoughts and ideas;
• Able to multi-task and prioritize;
• Able to thrive in a high pressure, deadline oriented environment;
• Enjoy working in and leading teams;
• Able to follow directions well.
