Job Summary

We are currently recruiting for positions on “Turkeys” our animated feature film that tells the tale of two turkeys who discover a time machine in a secret government lab and decide to go back to the first Thanksgiving in order to get turkeys off the menu.

This is for our Dallas location.

The Directing Animator is responsible for leading a team of animators in creating performance and motion for characters and objects based on storyboards, animatics, and other visual reference.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Mentor and lead animators in a constant effort to improve the overall quality of the animation product created in the studio
• Create lip-sync, facial, and body character animation as well as prop animation
• Partner with the Director/Client and other staff in order to understand and execute creative direction
• Maintain high quality and productivity throughout projects
• Communicate work status to the Production Management staff
• Attend dailies, provide critique and comments, and ensure that revisions are completed in a timely manner
• Consistently meet production deadlines
• Project Management – proven ability in managing projects from concept to completion. Able to prioritize appropriately and always meet deadlines.
• Excellent Teamwork – ability to assemble and motivate teams and work effectively with others.
• Superb Written & Verbal Communication – good at following directions; Ability to interact with and integrate requests of directors, broadcasters, executives and clients.
• Organization – demonstrated organizational skills including attention to detail.
• Strong Problem Solving Skills.
• Excellent conflict resolution and negotiation skills.

Education and Experience Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Animation, Computer Animation, or related field; or equivalent professional experience
• Requires 5 years minimum experience in Feature Film and/or Commercial production with an emphasis on animation
• Strong character performance skills
• Strong demonstration of animation principles, timing, and acting choices
• Ability to create broad and subtle styles of animation
• Knowledge of character rigging solutions and ability to communicate those solutions with rigging team
• Proficient with Maya and/or equivalent program
• Ability to work in a team environment and take direction
• Ability to provide feedback to other artists
